COSMETIC TATTOO BEFORE & AFTERCARE
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TATTOO APPOINTMENT?
SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
WHAT TO AVOID AFTER YOUR COSMETIC TATTOO
Make sure you are hydrated and have eaten a good meal. Wear comfortable clothes, similar to what you’d wear to the hair stylist.
Bring anything that makes you feel comfortable: cozy clothes, headphones, fidget toys, snacks, and water. I also have a heated tattoo bed, heaters, blankets, fidget toys, snacks, and drinks. My goal is for you to be as cozy as possible during your tattoo session.
These restrictions are essential to proper healing and color retention:
Skincare and makeup on the tattoo — avoid for 2 weeks
Retinol — avoid until 6 weeks post touch-up
Sun exposure and sunburn — avoid throughout healing
Pools, saunas, lakes, oceans, and hot tubs — avoid for 2 weeks
Working out — avoid for 10–12 days
Facials and chemical peels — avoid for 4 weeks
Botox — avoid for 3 weeks
Submerging the tattoo directly under water — avoid for 2 weeks
FOR LIPS: Avoid smoking and eating spicy food for the first few days following procedure
AFTERCARE ROUTINE
One hour after leaving the studio: Take a wet saline wipe and dab it gently on the tattoo for 20 seconds, then discard. Repeat every hour until your first full wash on night one.
FOLLOW THIS ROUTINE FOR 12 DAYS FOLLOWING YOUR APPOINTMENT
REPEAT MORNING AND NIGHT
Wash your tattoo using the instructions indicated below
Moisturize: Use a clean q-tip to apply a small amount of aftercare balm to the tattooed area.
Keep the area clean: Avoid all skincare products and makeup on or near the tattoo
PRO TIP: If your brows feel itchy or flaky throughout the day, add a little more aftercare balm to help disguise any flakiness and alleviate itching.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
SHARE YOUR RESULTS?
Color may change throughout the healing process — this is completely normal.
Flaking is normal. Scabbing is not. If you notice scabbing, increase your aftercare balm application.
Full color results are visible after the healing process is complete in 6-8 weeks.
Fading is expected 30-50% fading is typical
ALWAYS START WITH CLEAN HANDS
The soap provided is Doctor Bronner's Baby Castile Soap.
Apply 1–2 drops of the provided soap onto a clean q-tip or clean fingers.
Gently cleanse the tattoo area in circular motions for 20 seconds.
Pat dry with a clean towel or disposable soft tissue — do not rub.
Once the tattoo is completely dry, apply a thin layer of aftercare balm with clean fingers or q-tip.
Reapply balm as needed throughout the day.
PRO TIP: When moisturizing, less is more. Create a thin, barely-there layer of balm — never a thick coat. If you have thick brows, make sure to work the balm in between brow hairs onto the skin so it penetrates and moisturizes the tattoo
Sun exposure is one of the leading causes of cosmetic tattoo fading and discoloration. To protect your investment:
While healing: Wear a hat whenever you're outdoors to shield the tattooed area from direct sun for the first two weeks because you cannot apply SPF to open skin.
After 2 weeks: Begin applying SPF sunscreen daily to the area to maintain color longevity.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH KIRKLAND’S MOST EXPERIENCED COSMETIC TATTOO ARTIST AND CERTIFIED ESTHETICIAN
“I’ve been getting lash lifts and tints from Dominique for over a year now! My lashes have grown noticeably stronger and longer, and she does a really thorough job, taking into account any requests I have. Would definitely recommend getting lifts here since they promote growth and last several 6+ weeks.”
-Heidi
“I’ve been looking for a place to do my eyebrows since February, when I moved here, after trying different options (4) I found Dominique on Instagram. I liked her worked through the pictures she posted and booked for an appointment, since that first time I loved they way the did my eyebrows, perfect shape and a really clean work, she takes care of the little details. Professional and kind. Even her Studio is a bit far from my place, I’ll never trust my eyebrows to anybody else. Loved her art!”
-Ana
“I am absolutely OBSESSED with my brows. I was really nervous for permanent makeup but Dominique did such an incredible job of listening to my concerns and mapping out my brows perfectly. Also, as a mother of two small kids (ie - there is never silence), she let me just plug in my EarPods and listen to a podcast ..and it was glorious. My only regret is not booking with her sooner. Best natural looking brows - cannot recommend her enough!”
